In a nutshell, DigiDerm is an online skin clinic that provides quick access to treatments and advice for common skin conditions.

Our team of doctors and pharmacists have all worked in the NHS, so we know first-hand the frustrations that our patients face. It can be difficult to get the high quality care you need, where and when you need it. We love the NHS, however we wanted to give people another avenue that they could use so they could get solutions to their skin problems, quickly and conveniently.

Our Mission

Our mission is to level-up the playing field of dermatology services in the UK. We want to make professional skin care advice and treatments more affordable and accessible to everyone, regardless of who you are or where you live.

Our goal is to harness the power of remote digital technology and AI to provide quick, effective and affordable medications and advice for skin conditions to people across the UK.

Our Team

We are a close-knit team of friends and colleagues that are passionate about helping people solve their skin problems. We are always at hand to support you (no question is too silly to ask!)

James has over 15 years of training and qualifications and has worked within the NHS and private healthcare sector. He attended Pharmacy School at University of Bath and after 5 years of study and training he qualified as a pharmacist in 2011. To further expand his role and clinical knowledge, he subsequently completed a 2-year Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy from the University of Bath. During this period, James switched from working in his role as a typical chemist in high street pharmacies, to working as an advanced clinical pharmacist prescriber in G.P surgeries, under the mentorship of Doctors and Prescribing Pharmacists.

James gained his Independent Prescribing qualification whilst specialising in Dermatology, completing part of his training within the Dermatology Department at the Royal Gwent Hospital, South Wales. This prescribing qualification allows him to work autonomously and directly with patients; it allows him to diagnose, prescribe medications and put his skills and knowledge to maximum use for the benefit of his patients. James’s passion for dermatology and his ambition to provide his patients with the best possible care, led him to complete further specialist training in dermatology- he most recently achieved a Postgraduate Certificate in Dermatology from the University of South Wales. During this course, he was mentored by expert Consultant Dermatologists from across the world and learned how to apply his knowledge into clinical practice.

James has experience across a variety of healthcare sectors and has spent the last few years working as an Advanced Pharmacist Prescriber in G.P surgeries and as a prescribing pharmacist for out-of-hours care (NHS 111). In these roles James works autonomously to consult with patients, diagnose and prescribe medications for a variety of skin conditions such as acne, eczema, and acute skin infections.

The UK has a shortage of qualified dermatologists as highlighted by the recent report by BAD (British Association of Dermatologists)- and as we all know, a chronic shortage of G.Ps! This makes it very difficult for a person of average UK income to access specialist dermatology services without paying an expensive fee (in some cases up to £200 for private dermatology appointment!). Sensing this frustration from his patients, James decided to create DigiDerm to provide affordable, quick, and expert help to people with common skin problems. He wants to bring dermatology services into the digital age so people can get the treatment and ongoing support they need, in a way that’s convenient for them.
James is passionate about mental health and having suffered with anxiety in the past himself, he understands the importance of having someone really take the time to listen and understand your feelings and concerns. James understands that beauty runs deeper than the skin and that’s why DigiDerm also takes every opportunity to provide advice and guidance on mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem.

In his spare time James likes taking his two French bulldogs for a walk (although it often feels that they are taking him for a walk!) along the beautiful Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal in South Wales, where he lives with his fiancé Toni. James also loves golf, tennis and generally any sport with a ball!
James is always on hand to support you with your skin problems, so say hello by WhatsApp, email (james@digiderm.co.uk) or by visiting the DigiDerm Instagram page or website.

Sam completed his Pharmacy degree at the University of Brighton. After this he decided to return to Wales to be closer to family and went on to work in hospital Pharmacy and completed his Postgraduate Clinical Diploma with Cardiff University. Following this Sam transitioned to working in General Practice where he completed his independent prescribing qualification allowing him to prescribe medications.

Sam currently works for a GP surgery in South Wales and prescribes for a wide range of conditions in his day job, including skin conditions. Sam also works for NHS 111 and is the Clinical Lead Pharmacist for 111 in South East Wales. As part of this role he works to treat patients with a range of urgent conditions during the weekends and evenings when GPs are shut. He also manages a large team of more than 30 Pharmacists that work for the service.

Sam struggled massively with acne as a teenager and for a long time felt like nothing would work. He went back and forth to the GP and never got the answers he was looking for. That’s why he developed a keen interest in dermatology after completing his prescribing qualification and now enjoys seeing patients with dermatology conditions in his day to day role in General practice.

Sam understands how skin conditions don’t just affect your skin but have a huge impact on the way you see yourself and how you enjoy life. That’s why he started DigiDerm with James to help people with skin conditions get affordable access to specialists who will listen to them and get them the treatment they need, delivered to their door.

It took Sam many years to get to the bottom of his Acne but he learned a lot in the process and would love to help you do the same and take back control of your life by beating your skin condition.

Sam Lives in South Wales with his Girlfriend Katie. He enjoys eating out, playing tennis and going to the gym although probably spends more time in the sauna than exercising!
Sam is always happy to chat and knows what it’s like to feel completely defeated by a skin condition. That’s why he’s always happy to help if you’re struggling with your skin. Say hello by WhatsApp, email (sam@digiderm.co.uk) or visiting the DigiDerm Instagram page or website.
