Loceryl Nail Lacquer

Loceryl Nail Lacquer is used to treat fungal nail infections in adults. The lacquer is applied directly to the affected nail(s) once a week. The recommended duration of treatment is 6 months for fingernails and 9-12 months for toenails. The maximum duration of treatment should not exceed 12 months. If the infection has not resolved after this time, treatment should be reviewed with the prescriber.

Loceryl Nail Lacquer contains amorolfine, which is a type of antifungal medicine called an allylamine. Amorolfine works by stopping the growth of the fungus causing the infection. It does this by preventing the fungus from producing a substance called ergosterol, which is an essential component of fungal cell membranes. Without ergosterol, the fungal cells become weakened and die, and healthy nail growth can begin.

Use the applicator brush provided to apply the lacquer directly to the affected nail(s). • Before each application, file down the affected nail(s) as much as possible using the nail file provided. • Clean the nail(s) and the applicator brush with the cleaning pad provided. • Allow the lacquer to dry for approximately 3 minutes before covering the nail(s) with socks or shoes. • Apply the lacquer once a week for 6 months for fingernails and 9-12 months for toenails. • Do not use nail varnish or other nail products on the affected nail(s) while using Loceryl Nail Lacquer.

Avoid applying to areas of broken or damaged skin. • Do not swallow the lacquer or use it in or near the eyes, nose, mouth or genitals. • Avoid smoking or going near naked flames. Fabric that has been in contact with Loceryl Nail Lacquer will burn more easily, increasing the risk of severe burns.

• If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, speak to your doctor or pharmacist before using Loceryl Nail Lacquer.

All medications and products can potentially cause side effects. If you experience any of the following side effects, stop using Loceryl Nail Lacquer and speak to your doctor or pharmacist immediately: • Redness or itching of the skin around the treated nail(s) • Blisters or ulcers on the skin around the treated nail(s) • Swelling or pain in the treated nail(s)

There are many other treatments available for fungal nail infections, including topical and oral antifungal medicines.
