Diprosalic Ointment

• The ointment should only be applied to the affected skin areas Twice a day for 1-2 weeks to control a flare.
• Do not apply the ointment to areas of the skin that are not affected by the psoriasis. If small amounts do get on healthy skin, don’t worry, but wipe it off if it is excessive.
• Wash hands after applying the ointment unless the hands are the area being treated.
• Do not shower or bath immediately after the application of the ointment. For optimal effect the ointment should be left on overnight or throughout the day to gradually absorb into the skin.
• For the treatment of psoriasis progress should generally be reviewed by the prescribing clinician after 2 weeks.

•        Do not use the ointment on your face for more than 5 days. Do not use a large amount of ointment on large areas of the body for a long time (for example every day for many weeks or months).

•        Avoid applying to areas of broken or damaged skin.

•        Diprosalic ointment should not come into contact with the eyes, lips, mouth, nostrils or mucous membranes. If product enters the eye, wash immediately with warm water.

•        Avoid applying to the face or genitals, as these areas are particularly sensitive to the steroid in the medication.

•        Avoid smoking or going near naked flames. Fabric that has been in contact with Diprosalic will burn more easily, increasing risk of severe burns.

Active Ingredients: Salicylic acid 3% w/w + Betamethasone 0.05% w/w

Other Ingredients: liquid paraffin, white soft paraffin

Shelf Life: 36 months.

All medications and products can potentially cause side effects- If they are severe, or are mild and do not improve, then you should speak to your pharmacist or doctor immediately.

Side effects can include: Inflammation of hair follicles, reduced skin pigmentation, blurred vision, thinning, stinging and swelling and inflammation of the skin.
